We have senior managers who are committed to children鈥檚 and young people鈥檚 wellbeing and safety. We are clear about people鈥檚 responsibilities to safeguard and promote children鈥檚 and young people鈥檚 welfare. We make sure students鈥 know what to do if they feel someone may be hurt or upset and who they should tell in college or in their community, this could be a staff member, family member,聽social worker or police officer.
We have effective recruitment and H.R. procedures including checking all new staff and volunteers to make sure they are safe to work with children and young people.We have procedures for dealing with allegations of abuse against members of staff and volunteers.
We ensure that all staff receive training to help them do their job well. We have robust procedures about how to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people. All of our staff have annual training and regular updates on safeguarding and well being.It is a minimum standard that at least one member of staff involved in selecting staff and volunteers will have verified 鈥淪afer Recruitment鈥 training.
The Head of College is the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). The DSL has overall responsibility for safeguarding within the organisation, and will provide advice and support to other staff on welfare and safeguarding matters. The College Leadership Team will act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
